Sunday School Program 2007-2008

Presently we have 65 enrolled in our Pre-K through Sixth Grade program.

January-March

  • Our eleventh annual Bowling Bash was our first event for 2007. Twenty-one people joined us at Riviera Bowl.
  • Fun, Float, and Fellowship took place at the beginning of March. Fifty-four people were in attendance at the high school pool
  • On Childrens Sunday, our classes began taking turns preparing something special to share - a song, scripture, skit, etc.
  • During Lent, we collected donations for the Mexican Childrens Refuge/Mabels Building Mission. Our contributions totaled $1,000. We met our goal - we were able to support the Feierabends, as they build another house in Mexico.
  • March was Church Camp Month. Our students decorated envelopes that were available to the congregation for camp donations. The money collected helps our campers with their camp fees. This year we collected $300.

April-May

  • On Palm Sunday, our students participated in a palm processional at the 10:30 service.
  • Our traditional Easter party was held on Saturday, April 7. It was a great afternoon. Fifty-six people enjoyed the party. We had an egg hunt, treats, Denman Kramers balloons, games, and The Bouncy House.
  • The Sunday School year ended with Sundae Sunday. We enjoyed ice cream, treats, and awards. The Sunday School choir sang. It was a special way to end the year!

June-August

  • Our ecumenical Vacation Bible School took place June 11-15. The theme was Great Bible Reef - Dive Deep Into Gods Word. Pastor Bill provided great leadership with our songs and opening and closing sessions. We collected 120 items for the Food Pantry. Thirty students participated in this fun week.
  • We had five campers attend Pilgrim Center during the summer.
  • We held our sixth annual brat stand at Piggly Wiggly on July 20 and 21. Our profit was $1,088.

September-November

  • The 2007-2008 Sunday School year began on September 9. We enjoyed a piñata from the Feierabends in the Church park. The theme this year is As we plant the seeds of faith, watch our faith grow!
  • The Bouncy House and minnow races were the entertainment for the annual Church picnic.
  • The Sunday School continued to sing on the third Sunday of every month.
  • Students completed Time and Talent forms to volunteer for lighting candles, greeting, helping clean the classroom, etc.
  • Fifty-seven people gathered at Green Thumb Farms for our fall event. It was a great afternoon - going on a hayride, picking out pumpkins, and enjoying Pumpkinland.
  • The Sunday School collected $132 for UNICEF.
  • Our Harvest Home project continued to be successful. We had 514 pounds of donations for the Food Pantry.

December

  • During Advent, our Sunday School volunteers began lighting candles at both services and greeting on Childrens Sunday. Volunteers will continue to be scheduled through May.
  • Dana Gee painted the outlines for our Christmas window painting. Students in grades 4-6 painted them. The windows looked fantastic!
  • Our classes went caroling at Maplewood Village and The Pines. We had forty students, youth, and adults join us on a snowy morning!
  • On December 9, we had our birthday party for Jesus. Our Sunday School choir participated in the Music Festival. White gifts were collected for our H.E.L.P. project.
  • On December 16, the annual Christmas program was held. The theme was Let It Grow! Approximately 221 people attended the 10:30 service.

As always, my sincere thanks to the parents, the congregation, Pastor Bill, and the Sunday School staff for their support of our Christian education program.

The 2007-2008 Sunday School year is focusing on watching our faith grow. Jesus taught His disciples that if they had faith, they could move mountains.

If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Matthew 17:20

In the year 2008, let your faith grow! God wants us to nurture the seeds that we plant ~ so encourage our students faith. Faith comes from hearing and living Gods word. Strengthen your faith through praise, worship, study, prayer, and action. God stands ready to open a world of possibilities to those who have faith.

Are you ready?
Lets move some mountains!
